Our History

Paint Spot

The Paint Spot began in 1971 with Billy Junkin and Don Williams. The two partners took an offer from PPG to take the remaining stock in a PPG company store and start their own paint business. That beginning paid huge dividends for PPG paints as now 51 years later we are still growing our business at the Paint Spot. Our motto has remained the same, we give a quality product with a fair price, but above all, excellent customer service. We are a full- service paint store that specializes in color matching. We do this in all realms of the paint industry. Whether it is paint, stain, lacquer or industrial coatings we strive to match colors as if it was going in our own house. It may take a few more minutes, but we have built and continued our business on that kind of service. We have spent a large sum of money to have records of the paint you purchase from us. We have records back to 2004 and can look up most customer’s records in seconds, unlike the big box stores usually 3 days.

In 1995 Billy retired, and Don retired  in 1999. The store was purchased by Don’s son Philip Williams. This second generation has continued the full- service approach of a paint store. When you come into the Paint Spot you will recognize the guys that were there before are the same guys that are there now. Philip has worked there since 1984, Tony since 1988,  Anthony Shuttlesworth since 2002, Jamey Bible since 2010, Matthew Buszka since 2015, and Cameron Brister since 2016.

Matthew is a certified Graco tech. We repair most all airless makes and types. We carry a large inventory of Graco parts and normally can repair most machines in days not weeks or months. Our airless customers include the University of Alabama and Mississippi State.

The third generation, Caleb Williams, is now working part-time, and we hope to keep our family business growing the same as it has been for the last 51 years. The Paint Spot will continue to be "the go to place" for paint in Tuscaloosa and Northport.
